Taman Baca Kesiman

I couldn't believe I just found this place. Taman Baca Kesiman is only 10 minutes drive from my place and I didn't even know it exists. Well, not entirely my fault. This place opened in 2015, but only recently it held various literature and art related events and being active on social media. Nonetheless, this place is awesome! And turns out, I knew the founder. We went to the same school. He was my junior. He told me that all the books were his father's collection. Let me tell you, it was a lot. Like, a lot. And what I like the most is that it has so many old books that aren't easy to find. Both Indonesian and English literature. The downside is, you can't bring those books home. You are only allowed to read it there, which is quite a bummer. Hopefully they'll find a way to let people borrow their collection with certainty that the borrower will return it. Well, we have to be more trustworthy. It's on us, guys!

Until then, don't worry. The place is comfortable enough for you to spend hours reading. Plus, the coffee is ridiculously cheap. IDR 5,000 per cup. No latte or machiatto or any other hip coffee. Only black. There aren't many options on the menu yet, but enough to accompany your reading time.

The opening hours is from 11 a.m till 7 p.m, unless they're having some events which are quite often. Follow their social media account to keep updated.

Trust me, if you're around, you should--you have to--visit them. The place is interesting especially with the lack of public library in this city.
